When is the best season for Nemophila in Japan?
The best time to see the flowers varies depending on the species and region, but it is often from early April to late June nationwide. In Kyushu and Fukuoka, the "Uminonakamichi Seaside Park" is in full bloom from early to late April, and like cherry blossoms, the blooming and best viewing times start from the warm areas of western Japan. Also, in western Japan, there are places like the "Kuju Flower Park" in Oita Prefecture, where flowers bloom until June if it is a highland area.
Where can you see Nemophila in Japan?

2. Ibaraki Prefecture | Hitachi Seaside Park
When it comes to Nemophila, many people might think of Hitachi Seaside Park. The sight of about 5.3 million Nemophila dyeing the "Miharashi Hill" blue has made a significant impact worldwide through social media. It's enjoyable to walk along the path among the Nemophila, but due to the expected crowds during the peak season, it's recommended to view from the foot of the hill.
The popularity of the Nemophila at Hitachi Seaside Park spread rapidly through word of mouth on social media after being featured in the 2013 book "Scenic Spots to Visit Before You Die". With the tagline "a sight to see before you die", many tourists visit from both within and outside Japan every year. You can often see people walking their dogs in the park, as dogs are allowed if they are on a leash.

3. Tokyo |Showa Kinen Park

4. Yamanashi Prefecture | Yamanakako Hananomiyako Park
A flower field located on the shore of Lake Yamanaka, where you can see Mount Fuji in the background. The Nemophila field is located in the Lake Garden, a paid area of Hananomiyako Park. There are also waterside spaces such as Myojin Falls and Iwakiyama Falls in the vicinity, where you can spend a relaxing time.
The best time to see Nemophila is from early May to mid-June, which is slower compared to others, so you can enjoy the peak of the flowers by shifting from the crowded Golden Week.

5. Osaka Prefecture｜Osaka Maishima Seaside Park
Osaka Maishima Seaside Park, overlooking Osaka Bay. The sight of nemophila, the sea, and the sky blending together into a single shade of blue is truly breathtaking. The approximately one million nemophila flowers blooming on the vast site overlooking Osaka Bay are on a scale unparalleled in the Kansai region.
During the Nemophila Festival held in April and May, original blue soft serve ice cream is available. In addition, there are many activities that can only be done during this period, such as a sightseeing helicopter that overlooks the nemophila field from the air, and a mini-flight experience on a paraglider.

Generally, the blooming periods of Nemophila and cherry blossoms do not overlap, but at Uminonakamichi Seaside Park, you can see a wonderful collaboration of the two. In the large lawn square, Nemophila begins to bloom in early April when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, resulting in a unique two-shot that can only be seen for a short period of time.
The variety blooming in the park is called Insignis Blue. It is characterized by small flowers with a diameter of about 2cm, and due to its cute appearance, it is called "Baby Blue Eyes" in English. 7. Oita Prefecture | Kuju Flower Park
Kuju Flower Park is a beautiful flower park located in the Kuju Plateau in Aso National Park at an altitude of 850m, where you can enjoy the beautiful nature against the backdrop of the Kuju Mountain Range, one of Japan's 100 famous mountains, and the Aso Five Peaks. It is popular as a "village of fragrant flowers" where flowers of each season bloom in full glory.
The biggest feature of Kuju Flower Park is the largest flower field in western Japan, where 500 types and 5 million flowers bloom annually. Because it is located at a very high place, the best time to see it is from early to late May, which is a little later than other areas in western Japan. While basking in the refreshing highland breeze, about 70,000 Nemophila flowers bloom over an area of 9,000㎡.
