When is the best season for Nemophila in Japan?

The best time to see the flowers varies depending on the species and region, but it is often from early April to late June nationwide. In Kyushu and Fukuoka, the "Uminonakamichi Seaside Park" is in full bloom from early to late April, and like cherry blossoms, the blooming and best viewing times start from the warm areas of western Japan. Also, in western Japan, there are places like the "Kuju Flower Park" in Oita Prefecture, where flowers bloom until June if it is a highland area.

The sight of about 5.3 million Nemophila dyeing the "Miharashi Hill" blue has made a significant impact worldwide through social media. The popularity of the Nemophila at Hitachi Seaside Park spread rapidly through word of mouth on social media after being featured in the 2013 book "Scenic Spots to Visit Before You Die". With the tagline "a sight to see before you die", many tourists visit from both within and outside Japan every year. You can often see people walking their dogs in the park, as dogs are allowed if they are on a leash.

3. Tokyo |Showa Kinen Park

The vast Showa Kinen Park is filled with nature. The Flower Festival, held annually from mid-March to the end of May, features a variety of flowers such as pansies and cherry blossoms. Nemophila flowers start to bloom around mid-April, and by the time Golden Week arrives, a blue carpet spreads across the Herb Hill.

In years when the flowers bloom early, it's very beautiful as it overlaps with tulips and late-blooming cherry blossoms. The best time to see Nemophila is from early May to mid-June, which is slower compared to others, so you can enjoy the peak of the flowers by shifting from the crowded Golden Week.

The approximately one million nemophila flowers blooming on the vast site overlooking Osaka Bay are on a scale unparalleled in the Kansai region.

During the Nemophila Festival held in April and May, original blue soft serve ice cream is available. 6. Fukuoka Prefecture|National Uminonakamichi Seaside Park

Generally, the blooming periods of Nemophila and cherry blossoms do not overlap, but at Uminonakamichi Seaside Park, you can see a wonderful collaboration of the two. In the large lawn square, Nemophila begins to bloom in early April when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, resulting in a unique two-shot that can only be seen for a short period of time.

The variety blooming in the park is called Insignis Blue. It is characterized by small flowers with a diameter of about 2cm, and due to its cute appearance, it is called "Baby Blue Eyes" in English. The sight of Nemophila, which looks like a sea of flowers, is a beauty that seems to reveal the heart.

7. Oita Prefecture | Kuju Flower Park

Kuju Flower Park is a beautiful flower park located in the Kuju Plateau in Aso National Park at an altitude of 850m, where you can enjoy the beautiful nature against the backdrop of the Kuju Mountain Range, one of Japan's 100 famous mountains, and the Aso Five Peaks. It is popular as a "village of fragrant flowers" where flowers of each season bloom in full glory.

The biggest feature of Kuju Flower Park is the largest flower field in western Japan, where 500 types and 5 million flowers bloom annually. Because it is located at a very high place, the best time to see it is from early to late May, which is a little later than other areas in western Japan. While basking in the refreshing highland breeze, about 70,000 Nemophila flowers bloom over an area of 9,000㎡.

The peak of the "Spring Color Field", where 11 types of seasonal flowers are planted like a patchwork, is also around the same time. It is full of photo spots that look great on social media.
