Showa Kinen Park
Fall is a beautiful time of year in Japan, with many vibrant colors everywhere you look. If you are in the Tokyo area, then we highly recommend heading on over to Showa Kinen Park over in Tachikawa. Showa Kinen Park is only 30 minutes away from the central Tokyo area via train and is the biggest park in all of Tokyo!
Koyo (or Momiji) , the colors of Autumn leaves in Japan.
Showa Kinen Park is especially great to visit for Koyo because of the many different trees and flowers they have all throughout the park.
The park is especially popular for having a walkway of Gingko Trees that carpet the floor with a vivid shade of yellow. This is especially popular for photographers and those that want to snap a few pictures for Instagram. The walkway itself is around 300 meters long and is located on the west side of the park. It’s relatively easy to find, because you will see many other photographers snapping up pictures, taking selfies, and even including their pets!
When is the best time to visit?
If you go for the Gingko Tree walkway, make sure to visit in mid-November, as the leaves quickly fall from the trees in December. Be sure to check the weather schedule as well, as the weather starts to cool down a lot during the fall season and going on a sunny day is ideal!
