AL is here!
Fun! Japan staff from Kansai, the ikemen (the most handsome) Sugi just visited Hida Takayama last week!!
He brought some souvenirs (omiyage) from there: Sarubobo Manjuu.
This souvenir is a manjuu with sarubobo shape.
Manjuu is popular traditional Japanese confection with an outside made from flour, rice powder and buckwheat, with filling made from boiled azuki beans and sugar.
Sarubobo is a Japanese amulet for good match, easy childbirth and happy marriage.
Let’s take a look at the inside of the souvenir.
Can you notice the difference of this Sarubobo with normal Sarubobo?
The Sarubobo in this manjuu has eyes, whereas normal Sarubobo is faceless and has no eyes.
Now, let’s open the package.
Do you think the manjuu looks like a monkey (saru)? ;D
And the manjuu tastes sweet and delicious :)
Next up is a souvenir called Tea Leaf Rice Cracker.
Sugi bought this souvenir in Kyoto :D
Let’s take a look at the inside.
Although, the package has minimalist design on the outside, it has very colorful pamphlet inside. By the way, can you find Kyoto kanji in the pamphlet?
Next up is the rice cracker itself.
Main characteristics of this rice cracker are the color and the pattern :)
The rice cracker has sweet green tea taste and aroma. Yummy!!
What do you think of Sugi souvenirs guys?
