Early spring Japanese flowers

Winter is almost gone and early spring flowers are starting to bloom.

Let’s go outside to discover some of them: daffodils, camellias, and plum blossoms.

Daffodils are a variety of narcissus which blooms just right after snow melt.
Those flowers looks like some cute bells.

Camellias or “tsubaki” in Japanese are very popular flowers with many colors available from white, pink, and hot red.
There’s a lot of legends and symbols about camellias in Japanese culture and literature.
Camellias grow on small trees and many people have some in there garden to enjoy big flowers in late winter.

 

Plum blossoms are the most famous amogst early spring flowers. 
Many gardens, temples or shrines are holding festivals to admire the flowers.

Then many intermediate varieties were created, with many variations of pink.
