Here, I’d like to introduce Chino city located in Nagano prefecture
Far from Tokyo that never sleeps, time goes by slowly here. Historic buildings, beautiful natures still remain in this city. All the things here make you feel relaxed, and you will also be able to enjoy some attractions.

In the beginning, let me share an unmissable place when you visit Chino city. That is Misyaka Lake. This lake was used as a motif for famous painting in Japan. Tree’s shade reflecting to the rake makes mysterious atmosphere. The view changes with the seasons. You should have a look with your own eyes.
30 minutes by car from Chino Station (Since bus rarely stop, I recommend using taxi.)

Next place on my recommendation list is Mt. Yatsugatake. Hike to the top of the mountain takes about 100 minutes, or you can ride on cable car (1000yen/one way) On the vicinity of Mt. Yatsugatake, there are a café and a souvenir shop which sells products made from cranberry harvested on the mountain. Since the mountain is surrounded by volcanic area, there are many hot springs, so after hiking to the beautiful mountain, why don’t you cure your fatigue at the hot springs. Mt Yatugatake is also famous for its snowy winters and during the ski season, the mountain is packed with skiers and snowboarders.

If you have an enough time to go around Chino city, please stop by Jinchoumoriya resource center. You’ll be amazed by the objects made by Japanese famous architect Hujimori Terunobu. Besides there is a house built on trees which was chosen for top 10 of the most dangerous building in the world. ( No.1 is leaning tower of Pisa)

In twenty minutes by walk from Chino Station, there is Suwa Grand shrine (there is four Suwa Grand shrines in Japan). It is one of the oldest shrines in existence. Suwa Grand shrine is the head shrine of the Suwa branch shrines, composed of almost 25000 shrines in Japan. One part of the shrine is located in Chino city. If you had an interest in the shrine, you should check the other four head Suwa shrines in Nagano prefecture.
