Where to Go Indonesian Grocery Shopping in Tokyo

Whenever you move out from your motherland to the new country, first thing you would miss is your local foods. Although you might find yourself hard to find local groceries in wherever you are at. Even though Japan and Indonesia isn’t geographically far comparing wish western countries, it is still hard to find good and authentic indonesian food ingredients even though you want to cook in your apartment after you move in Tokyo and other cities in Japan.

Nozawa-ya

A few weeks back, we posted about the basement Asian grocery stores in Ameyoko Center Building Tokyo. In one store there called Nozawa-ya and they sell many spices in super affordable price. They also sell Indonesian food stuff like kencur and lemon grass. They also sells other ingredients like pineapple sauce and seasoning sauce.

TOKO Fatimah Ameyoko

OKO Fatimah Ameyoko is another Indonesian grocery store. They have many rare Indonesian ingredients such as tempeh, daun singkong, jengkol mentah and bawang merah. They also sells Deli there for some of you want to get spoiled from precooked meals.

ASIA YAOSHO

Yaosho is located right in front of Kinshicho station. Since there are many southeast asian population living in Kinshicho, you will see many people from those countries here which is a good thing that you know this place sells authentic items. Inside of the store, you will find vegetables like green mango, fresh coconuts and other vegetables that have been used for meals in those countries in cheaper price. They sell stuff like tamarind paste, krupuk and other items. They are popular and usually get more people in the evening around 6 then people who work at office visit there.

Toko Indonesia Okubo

The last one is located in a back alley of Okubo. If you know Vietnam chan, a authentic vietnamese restaurant in Okubo, the store is right next to them. You can find seasoning sauce and powder, tempeh, agar agar and many other items you need to make Indonesian meals. They have an online store available for you who live far from Tokyo and want to buy some Indonesian items.
