What to do in Karuizawa? Shopping at Karuizawa Outlet!

We came to Karuizawa Prince Shopping Plaza, one of Japan’s most famous outlets. We made this video to help you enjoy your time here.

The outlet is so big, it can be hard to know what to shop for. To help, we’ve featured eight different shops, focusing specifically on clothing brands. This should help you get the most out of your day at this spacious, bargain-filled outlet mall.

Store #1: CA4LA offers the best hats.

CA4LA (pronounced Cashila) sells hats imported from all over the world. They also sell their own brand of Japan-made hats. Walking into the store, you’ll be surprised by all the different designs. There are rows of hats you’ll want to try on. If you come with a partner, you’ll probably figure out more of his/her attractiveness while trying all those hats.

Store #2: Levi’s is the original jean company. Dig that wild style of life.

Levi’s first made jeans around 160 years ago for use in harsh environments. Now the brand is associated with attitude than work. Of course, the store also has lots of other types of clothes too. One of the features of the outlet is there are always a huge lineup of different products.

Store #3: Learn about Japanese fashion at Beams.

Beams is a famous brand in Japan. There’s probably not a single fashion lover here who hasn’t heard of the brand. Beams actively collaborates with other brands and is full of items you’ll immediately want to get your hands on. After seeing how good they look, I immediately wanted to buy her those clothes. It’s hard to resist buying such cute clothes!

Store #4: Buy a jacket at The North Face / Helly Hansen and enjoy Japan’s chilly winter.

This store sells both The North Face and Helly Hansen articles. Apparently, Helly Hansen got its start making rain-resistant, durable items for sailors. That explains why so many of the products are waterproof and insulated. This is a great place in Japan to buy quality products at an affordable price. With a JR Railway Pass, you can easily get to Karuizawa from Tokyo via the Shinkansen bullet train. Purchase some insulated clothing and head to the nearby ski resort or take the bullet train further towards Kanazawa.

Shop #5: niko and...

This brand is called “niko and...”. Their clothes are made with rather bold cuts and have subtle colors perfect for everyday wear. Nothing is too over the top, and though they are great for casual wear, many of their clothes possess a sense of originality that will keep your look unique.

Store #6: Get energized with streetwear from XLARGE / X-Girl.

This outlet has streetwear brands like Burton, Champion, Vans, A Bathing Ape Pirate Store, and more. For this trip, we visited XLARGE / X-Girl. The store is full of products that are packed with a sense of energy. A single hat or sweatshirt can provide a great accent without having to coordinate your entire outfit.

Store #7: Find designs popular with young Japanese people at WEGO.

Shibuya-based company WEGO stocks popular brands for young people, including Converse, Fila, and Champion. With over 120 locations in Japan, it is clear the store has a big influence on Japanese fashion tastes. The store adjusts to fit trends, so it’s unlikely that the clothes seen in these photos will still be there by our next visit.

Store #8: Mikado Coffee is so delicious, Fun! Japan staff are regulars there.

Honestly, the coffee and ice cream here are so delicious, we end up coming every time we visit this outlet. That’s how great this place is.
