Ashikaga Flower Park Illumination, located in the suburbs of Tokyo, is a flower theme park. Here you can enjoy the colorful flowers swaying in the wind all year round, in particularly the wisteria season during April-May, many come to see the flowers. The Winter’s “The Garden of Illuminated Flowers – Flower Fantasy” is also well-known as one of the three greatest illuminations in Japan. When the winter comes, Ashikaga Flower Park magically transforms into a sea of fantastic lightings and presents various themes, with the creative arrangement and designs. Of course, “flower” is one of the important elements in Ashikaga Flower Park. The fairy-tale like illuminations express the mellow personality of flowers, creating a garden that can be enjoyed at night.

Ashikaga Flower Park’s “The Garden of Illuminated Flowers – Flower Fantasy”, together with Kyushu’s “Huis Ten Bosh – The Kingdom of Lights” and Hokkaido’s “Sapporo White Illuminations”, is listed as the three greatest illumination in Japan. It has won the first place in Japan for three consecutive years! Span over 940,000 m2 and utilize over 450 million LED light bulbs, it presents a romantic atmosphere while at the same time focusing also on energy conservation. A gentle reminder to visitors: as Ashikaga Flower Park at night is colder than in Tokyo, please remember to bring along a jacket or clothing.

A quick guide to “The Garden of Illuminated Flowers – Flower Fantasy 2018”

The 17th “The Garden of Illuminated Flowers – Flower Fantasy” is from 27th October 2018 (Saturday) to 5th February 2019 (Tuesday). During this period, the opening hours will extend to 9pm during weekdays and 9:30pm during weekends and public holidays. There are cute Japanese style shops and restaurants, as well as props for photographing in the park. Every corner is a good spot for taking photos, you can fully enjoy your time here.


Come to “The Garden of Illuminated Flowers – Flower Fantasy” and you will be amazed by the clear and unique themes. You will be able to take wonderful photos with your phone or camera. The new art piece of 2018th, the “RAINBOW MAGIC”, displays a huge rainbow hanging in the night sky, symbolizing the path to the future. “The Pyramid of Light” reflects on the water and shows different colors according to the light and soft melody.

“Our Earth” is based on the theme of the livings on earth. Using water mirror effect, it creates a magnified and fantastic space. The “Home of the Soul” is based on the unforgettable hometown scenery which everyone has in their hearts. The four seasons of Japan are so beautifully presented using the terrain and lighting effects and are very fascinating. “The Castle of Flowers” is the highlight of the event. The white castle, standing on a sea of flowers, with a background of fireworks. Every few minutes there will be music with lighting effects. It is like a spectacular concert and the most special part is that you can go up to the white castle for taking photos.

Another which you must not miss is the “Miracles of Great Wisteria”. Since the opening, the wisteria is so full of vitality and has since become the symbol of Ashikaga Flower Park. If you miss the wisteria in spring, you may come to see them in winter, they are the very same fantastic and eye-catching. The LED bulbs mimicking the wisteria petals, are very impressive. The purple and green wisteria tunnels surround you with lights of happiness and bring you to the next happy and wonderful journey.
