While capsule hotels are still a common occurrence in Japan, the numbers have decreased over the years as the industry moves to more chic concepts. Furthermore, there are usually men-only capsule hotels due to security concerns arising from the flimsy nature of the capsule door. One of the few capsule hotel that allows for women is the Asahi Capsule hotel in Osaka.

Understanding the need for safety for female travelers when at a capsule hotel, Asahi Plaza Shinsaibashi has a special location just for women. This place is only accessible by key given to female guests. For those who want to stay in the same general area as their male friends/relatives, there is a 4-person capsule room. Just make sure to put in your request during reserving.

The capsule is fairly basic. Upon entering, you will find clean towels and a bathrobe for your use at the in- house onsen.

There are two types of capsules. The common ones require you to clamber in head first and have your legs pointed at the door. The special ones allow you to sleep parallel to the curtain, making going in and out very convenient. They are both the same price so do not hesitate to request for the special capsules.

Each capsule comes with a small console and a mirror. There is also a TV for some but they have to be specially requested. That’s all I have today. Next, I will tell you about the amenities in the Asahi Plaza Shinsaibashi Capsule Hotel!
