Japan is known for its modern and fancy gadgets, and also not to forget their traditional crafts and utensils. But within the grounds of the over 1000-years-old Shitennoji Temple, antiques of a 100-years-old can be found in a large and lively flea market of about 300 stalls, held on this ground on the 21st and the 22nd of every between 8 AM to 4 PM.

Antiques such as porcelain, kimono, collectibles from the olden days, can be found here. Second-hand items often offered for a price of 1000 yen are a great bargain and they sell well. Some older gadgets may not even work anymore, but they do bring back the feeling of the past. Some may consider them scraps, some might even say they are basically crap, but to some enthusiast, they call them “crap-made-out-of-gold” (basically useless item but has a high value of collectability).
