Located only a quick bus ride from Sapporo Station, the Sapporo Beer Museum offers a look into the history of one of Japan’s most prestigious beer makers. Let’s start from the top with the Sapporo Beer Museum tour! Called the Premium Tour, it is available from 11:30 am until 5:30 pm and starts every thirty minutes on the hour. This tour will take about 50 minutes to complete, with a great presentation of the Great Japanese Beer era, winding down with a beer tasting of the original Sapporo beer.
The cost for this Premium Tour starts at 500 yen for adults, 300 yen for Middle School students to those under 20 years of age, and free for Elementary School students and younger. Please be aware that only those aged 20 and older will be allowed to consume beer. Minors can choose from the soft drinks available.
The Premium Tour is conducted in Japanese by the staff, however there are Japanese and English printed pamphlets to assist those that cannot understand Japanese. For those wanting to explore at their own pace, you can also roam the museum for free from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm with final admission at 7:30 pm.
Sapporo Beer Museum Beer Tasting
Bottoms up! At the Sapporo Beer Museum, you can also try a variety of beer tasting at their special Star Hall. Here you can try from a selection of 3 beers that include the Sapporo Black Label Draft Beer, the Hokkaido Limited Classic, and one of their Pioneering Beers.
The Black Label and Hokkaido Limited beers are only 200 yen, while the Pioneering beer is 300 yen. You can also get all 3 types in a comparison set for only 600 yen. Non-alcoholic beer is also available for 200 yen and soft drinks are available for 100 yen. Opening hours for the Star Hall are from 11:00 am until 7:00 pm with last order at 6:30 pm.
Enjoying the Sapporo Beer Museum Buffet
If you want a bite to eat, then you won’t be disappointed at the Sapporo Beer Museum. Buffets are all the rage at the Sapporo Beer Garden restaurants adjacent to the museum. Here, you can enjoy from all-you-can-eat king crab, sushi, and the Hokkaido specialty: Jinguskan, a lamb dish named after Genghis Khan.
The Specialty King all-you-can-eat buffet is available at the Kessel Hall, and the Poplar House for 2,900 yen for adults and 1,450 yen for school students ages 7 to 12. Add all-you-can-drink to this buffet for a total of 3,900 yen for adults and 1,950 for school students ages 7 to 12.
For the famous All-You-Can-Eat-Buffet that includes all-you-can-eat crab, you will have to go to the Trommel Hall. Prices start at 5,680 yen for adults and 2,840 yen for school students ages 7 to 12. Add all-you-can-drink to this buffet for a total of 6,980 yen for adults and 3,490 for school students ages 7 to 12.

The Sapporo Beer Museum hours are from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm. The last tour is at 5:30 pm and last admission is at 7:30 pm. The Star Hall is open from 11:00 am until 7:00 pm with last order at 6:30 pm.
Closing days for the Sapporo Beer Museum are New Year’s holidays and occasional days off. Every Monday, the Premium Tours and Star Hall is closed, but visitors are welcome to explore the museum by themselves.

If you would like to attend the Premium Tour, you will have to make a Sapporo Beer Museum reservation via the website application or via a phone call to 011-748-1876. Please keep in mind that these services are only available for reservation in Japanese.
If you will apply online for the reservation, it will have to be made within a period of 3 to 90 days in advance of your visit. If you are calling in your reservation, you can make your reservation from 1 day to 90 days before your visit. Please check their online schedule for open spots. If there are open spots during your visit and you have not made a reservation, there may be a chance for you to join the tour!
