What Japanese Women Have in their Makeup Bags? Take a peek of the one of Working Woman as A Freelancer

My makeup bag consists of daily essentials and it’s something that is almost always in my purse or work bag. Some of the items in my makeup bag may be familiar to you while others may simply be interesting. In addition to makeup items, I tend to include non-makeup items in my bag as well. Perhaps it can give you some ideas on what to purchase next time you shop in Japan or add into your own makeup bag. The following images show some of the essential items that are commonly found in my makeup bag.

Makeup items for touch-up

To make the bag as portable as possible, compact-sized make-up items just for touch-ups are usually in the makeup bag. A compressed face powder is a must-have item. This particular one is from a drug store brand, Majolica Majorca. Like many of the powders in Japan, the inside is replaceable that you can just buy refills instead of buying the whole thing again. I find that many Japanese cosmetics, even the drug-store brands, have nice designs that will certainly lift your spirits just by carrying them in your bag.

Lip balm and hand lotion

There is a high chance that you will find at least a lip balm and a hand lotion in my makeup bag at all times. These 2 items can be daily lifesavers especially during the cold weather that’s drying to the skin. I like to carry this mini size Nivea cream in my bag. This particular Nivea cream was purchased in Germany, while the lip balm was purchased in Japan. You may find out that this German brand is also popular in Japan as well.

Medical items

Some people like to carry medications for occasional pain or perhaps for their daily needs including vitamins. I like to carry some pain-killers just in case of a headaches that tend to come at unwanted times. Speaking of unpleasant surprises, Band-Aids are something I like to have in hand also. It won’t be an added weight to my bag so, why not?

Cotton swabs

Cotton swabs are an excellent helper when it comes to touching up makeup. In Japan, cotton swabs are available in different varieties such as ones that are individually wrapped. For me, since I had some mini plastic bags on-hand, I decided to put few cotton swabs in it. The individual wrapped cotton swabs, mini plastic bags, and even the cotton swabs themselves can easily be found in 100-yen stores, making them extremely easy to purchase. There are individually wrapped moistened cotton swabs available as well.

Makeup wipes/body wipes

I like to keep some makeup wipes in my bag. A bit similar to makeup wipes, a common item that can be found in Japan are body wipes. Summer in Japan can get awfully hot and humid that sweating is something that can’t be avoided. For those scorching days, body wipes become a daily essential. Variety of these wipes can be found in Japan throughout the year, though more so during the summer. Some of these wipes are targeted for men while others are for woman.
