Japanese Favourite Easy Recipe: Tatsuta Age

Do you like fried chicken? Do you sometimes get bored with the same recipe of fried chicken? Are you interested in Japanese fried chicken? It`s very delicious and easy to cook. And it will be a favourite menu for the whole family.

Tatsuta Age

Ingredients:

  • 250g chicken breast
  • 1 red bell paper
  • 1 yellow bell paper
  • 1 green bell paper
  • 1/2 lemon

[Marinated sauce]

  • 1 (15 ml) table spoon of Japanese Sake
  • 1 (15 ml) table spoon of Mirin (can subtitute with grape juice & lemon)
  • 1 (15 ml) table spoon of Shoyu (soybean sauce)

[ingredients for dressing]

  • 2 egg whites
  • Salt
  • 4 table spoons of cornstarch
  • 20g minced ginger
  • Spring onion
  • Sesame seed

Cornstarch for layering

  • Salt
  • Oil

How to cook

1. Diced the chicken into into bite-size pieces on the diagonal

2. Marinate the chicken with the sauce for about 15 minutes or more. Remove and drain from the sauce with the kitchen towel.

3. Mince the ginger, chop the spring onion. Cut the lemon into wedges. Shape the bell peppers into leaves using a cookie cutter. (You can find at 100yen shop Daiso etc)

4. Whip the egg whites to stiff peaks. Add the salt to stabilize the foam. Then, fold in the potato starch for 2 to 3 times.

5. Put the ginger minced, spring onion and sesame seed. Dredge the chicken pieces with potato starch with carefully. Then generously coat with the batter.

6. Fry into the oil in 160°for 4 ~ 5 minutes. Remove the chicken when the colour turn to brown. 

7. Fry the bell papers for some second, springkle with the salt. Put the chicken, bell peppers, and lemon wedges on a plate.
