The Sports Day in Osaka: Batting Cage, Bowling, Archery and Osaka Castle

5 of FUN! JAPAN’s fans actually gather in Kansai and had a day with the theme “Sports X Tourist” in Osaka!
As the weather was not that good in the morning, we changed our plan and spent few hours at an indoor sport facility called the “ROUND 1”. With more than 40 activities available in this building, and everything looks so interesting that we have too many choices of what to do after each activity.

Before our dinner, we visited the famous Osaka Castle to talk a walk. Let me show your some of the episodes happened during this day.

Batting Cage, the balls keep coming

Most of the participants never played baseball and never visited any batting cage before. So, we wanted to try the batting as the first activity.
*“batting center” is a Japanese made English term for commercial batting cage

Batting Cage, the balls keep coming

There are 20 balls in each game. The interval between each ball was about 7 to 8 seconds. Trying to hit the ball was not easy at the beginning. As we can choose the cage with different speed and adjust the height of the ball during play, so the hitting rate for all participants increase up to nearly 50% after 2 rounds.

Aom-san from Thailand was frustrated when she could not hit the ball. And she was excited when the ball hit the center of the baseball bat. She enjoyed the batting so much that she said she want to watch the baseball game live in the future. Aom-san even started to check the schedule of the World Master Games 2021 KANSAI to see if she would be able to join the baseball game in Japan!

But… Devila-san accidently dropped her ball down during the game. This incident made all of us laugh non-stop for 5 minutes. She was shy but never ran away, and she shouted, “Let me show you my talent at the WMG in Japan after 3 years!”.
And… we laughed again!

Anyway, bowling was a nice game to enjoy!

Archery was not easy as imagined

We stopped by the Archery lane. Everyone was curious and trying to understand how to use the arrow and bow by looking at the instruction shown at a board near the entrance.

Archery was not easy as imagined

All of the sudden, Susu-san from Malaysia said, “Let’s me teach you all how to play Archery! First, hold your bow like this …… ”.
Wow! Susu-san knows how to play archery!
We were shocked by her high accuracy to hit the target for every arrow she shot!
But, after trying to play this game ourselves, we realized that it is not easy to hit the red color zone at the center of the target.
We would notice how amazing those athletes hitting the target when watch the game in the future. And ya! Archery is also one of the game in WMG. And the venue is at Tottori Prefecture, where the famous Tottori Sand Dunes located!

We visited the Osaka Castle after the sport activities. The JR Setouchi Area Pass is still valid in Osaka! We use the JR Morinomiya Station in the Osaka Loop Line which connected the major.
The Osaka Castle is located in the middle of a huge Osaka Castle Park. It took us around 20 minutes to walk from the station. The walk was not a boring one, we were enjoying the green scenery instead.
