These are from Convenience Stores?! Japanese High Quality Desserts

Are there times when you just want to have some desserts, but you don’t want to find a café, or it’s too late to find a café? If so, don’t worry, because in Japan, you can simply get delicious desserts from convenience stores that are open 24 hours! All of them are sold in a reasonable price! There is a wide variety of selections, so you can pick your favorite dessert. With some coffee or tea, you can have a delightful snack time. In the following, I will show you some desserts that are available in the 3 major Japanese convenience stores.

Lawson - Premium Roll Cake - 150 Yen

Uchi Café is the dessert brand of LAWSON. For me, their roll cakes are the best among all at Lawson. As you can see from the picture, that is the “Premium Roll Cake” from Uchi Café. It is said that the cream that they use is from Hokkaido, where you can find best milk in Japan. And in fact, it tastes really smooth, rich, and delicious! This is the most classic dessert that I would buy when I visit Lawson.

Family Mart - Double Cream Sandwich (whipped cream & custard) - 135 yen

FAMIMA SWEETS is the dessert brand from Family Mart. The dessert in the picture is the “Double Cream Sandwich”. In this sandwich, there are two layers of cream, whipped cream and custard cream! So you can enjoy a rich creamy flavor with one bite. This is also one of the classic selection when you want a dessert from convenience stores!

Seven Eleven - Taro Mont Blanc Pudding Parfait - 297 Yen

This is a dessert from Seven Eleven. Seven Eleven tends to make innovative desserts. And this is one of it! It is called “Taro Mont Blanc Pudding Parfait”. It is a confusing name, right? It is also a complicated dessert! There are 4 layers in this pudding parafat. The bottom layer is custard cream; the second layer is sponge cake; the third layer is pudding and the top layer is taro whipped cream. This is a dessert that combines everything into one! As a dessert from convenience store, this is absolutely stunning!

Seven Eleven - Matcha Warabi-mochi, White-mochi Cream Sensai

Since it is Japan, you can also get some decent Japanese traditional desserts from convenience stores. The picture above shows a dessert from Seven Eleven. This is an impressive dessert which has red bean for its base, warabimochi and white mocha on the side, with a topping of green tea whipped cream. It flawlessly represents the pleasantness of Japanese dessert just like the ones you can get in a restaurant or café. If you see this in the store, I strongly recommend you try it!

These are the best desserts from convenience stores from my point of view and of course, you may find other desserts that taste better. Despite that, I do encourage you to give these items a try during a visit!
