The sports competition of tug-of-war is a game that could maximize teamwork and your best possibility. Eight players in a team must have trust in each other, drawn out the full force to win the game by aligning the position, movement and power altogether at the perfect timing. Tug-of-war is not an individualism game, while it is an exercise which you need to win by teamwork. Every member in the team need to gather for training, and as the result the relationship between members is deepened. Nara Park is a large park with 660 hectares, and with the precious world heritage, Todaiji Temple and Kasuga Taisha shrine located in it. Let’s enjoy this beautiful scenery in harmony with the rich greenery of the surroundings in park!

Nara Park

The official name of Todaiji is "Kinkomyoshitenno Gokokunotera". It was a temple that built under the order of Emperor Shomutenno in seventh-eight century. It is the base to take control of temples in whole Japan. The most famous attraction in Todaiji is definitely the Nara huge Buddha statue at the Buddha stage. The huge Buddha is the world's largest wooden building. Behind the huge Buddha there is a pillar hole which is same size with Buddha's nose hole. It is said that you will get good health if you manage to pass through the hole. Do you want to challenge it?

Access to Todaiji:

  • Get off at JR Nara station, then take bus from Kintetsu Nara station (city circulation bus - outer direction). Get off at “Daibutsudono Kasuga Taisha Mae", and walk approximately 5 minutes on foot.
  • Approximately 20 minutes on foot from Kintetsu Nara Station 

Kasuga Taisha in Nara Park

Nara Park

Kasuga Shrine is famous for its brilliant bright red color, which is outstanding with the rich greenery as background. There are hanging lanterns at the both side of the corridor, which is a popular spot for tourist. Lantern festival is held annually on 3rd February, 14th August and 15th August. During the festival all the lantern are turned on and is ultimately beautiful. Kasuga Taisha was registered as a World Heritage Site as part of Nara Cultural Property.

Access to Kasuga Taisha:

  • Get off at JR Nara station, then take bus from Kintetsu Nara station (city circulation bus - outer direction). Get off at “Kasuga Taisha Omote Sando”, and walk approximately 5 minutes on foot, or get off at “Kasuga Taisha Honden” and you will reach shrine within few steps
  • Approximately 25 minutes on foot from Kintetsu Nara Station

Wakakusayama in Nara Park

If you like the relax atmosphere and you have strong physical capability, Wakakusayama is a recommended spot for you to visit. Wakakusayama has an altitude of 342 m which fully covered with greenery and you can view the scenery of entire Nara from the top mountain of Wakakusayama. The night scenery is also recommended for you.

The deer at Wakasakuyama are more relaxing compare to those deer in Todaiji and Kasuga Taisha. You don’t need to worry since the deer in Wakakusayama will not come to disturb or begging you for deer cracker. Local residents are also often have a picnic at this wonderful mountain. It is a place where you can relax to your heart.

Access to Wakakusayama:

  • Take train to JR Nara station which near to the foot of the mountain, or take bus (circulation city bus- outer direction) from Kintetsu Nara Station to either “”Todaiji Daibutsuden/Kasuga Taisha Mae” or “Kasuga Taisha Omote Sando”, and walk approximately 15 mins on foot.
  • Approximately 30 minutes on foot from Kintetsu Nara Station
  • To reach the top of the mountain, you need to drive car to Wakakusayama mountain top parking lot, by going through Shin Wakakusayama driveway, and walk on foot for approximately 5 minutes.
