Narita International Airport is the New Choice for Your Next Japan Travel

Hi, guys! This is Amanda

We’d like to start this article with one question. Do you think you have to use Haneda Airport in Tokyo when it comes to Japan travel or Tokyo travel?

YOU ARE TOTALLY WRONG in some ways.

You might think Narita International Airport is far from Tokyo area, the inside of airport is complicated, and getting exhausted only by reaching to Tokyo area from the airport. Those are the typical image of Narita International Airport by some foreign travelers. At least, for me before.

HOWEVER. Narita International Airport is already evolved a while ago, and you, reading this article, may be the first discoverer in your country for their evolution.

This time, we FUN! JAPAN Team visited Narita International Airport and explored a lot. We will make you say “I will definitely use Narita International Airport for my next Japan Travel! “

Only 36 Minutes to Get to Tokyo by Keisei Skyliner

Much faster than you thought, right? You even don’t have enough time to take a nap or a snack in the train.

Not like those trains that we used to ride in Malaysia, Japanese trains move on schedule, never get late, number of trains are more, and these make me relieved and relaxed. Of course, there is no theft, so you can just leave your suitcase in the storage without any concern. Although it is your responsibility to look at your luggage, there is no need to worry about it as you can lock it too.

The train we are talking here is Keisei Skyliner which brings you to Tokyo area from Narita International Airport in about 36 minutes. It only costs 2,470 yen (less than RM100) to get to Nippori Station which is also on the Yamanote Line. By using Yamanote Line after this, you can access most of the places in Tokyo easily.

Since the route goes almost linearly to the center of Tokyo, it is the fastest means of travel to get there. It directly gets to Nippori Station without any stops along the way, with the train going up to 160km/h. This makes it the fastest train to get to Tokyo.

Taking Japanese Bullet Train, Shinkansen is so exciting, and you want to experience it someday, right? I always did, and I took Shinkansen in real for several times.

As for Keisei Skyliner, it is similar to Shinkansen for me. It runs faster than the KTM ETS train in Malaysia without any shaking or noise. The seats are so comfy too! Even free Wi-Fi service are available for you to share your very first post in Japan on Facebook to your friends using your own mobile phone.

When you land at Narita International Airport, you can experience this Shinkansen-like train, which makes you feel that Narita International Airport is close enough to the center of Tokyo!

Only 1,000 yen (about RM36) to Get to Tokyo by Bus

Bus is much cheaper than you thought, right? Oh, are you worried about traffic jam?

Just don’t. Japan is totally different from Kuala Lumpur. It takes about 70 minutes to 90 minutes to get to Tokyo area but not more than that usually. Sometimes there's traffic jam, but it never looks like the traffic jam in the Bukit Bintang area.

There are 4 companies which run these buses. Each bus has free Wi-Fi and relaxing seats, some have toilets in them, too.

The remarkable thing is that you can go on foot to the bus stops from the arrival lobby of Narita International Airport with NO STAIRS, NO GETTING LOST and NO WASTING TIME, because the bus stops and the arrival area are on the same level, and there are lots of signs.

Again, there is no theft, so you can just leave your suitcase in the storage and relax at your comfy seat.

After an hour or so, “Ta-dah! You are in Tokyo!”

See? Getting to Tokyo area from Narita International Airport is simple enough.

Only about 3,000 yen with Comfy Seats to Tokyo by NEX

3,000 yen may sound expensive, but it is worth to take. Not only it runs fast but also it stops at so many big station such as Tokyo, Shinagawa, Shibuya, Shinjuku, Ikebukuro, Omiya, Yokohama and so on, where many hotels are located.

It departs every 30 to 60 minutes and takes about 60 minutes to get to the center of Tokyo.

The train itself does not look like Shinkansen. The fast trains’ faces always have long noses was my thought, but it was wrong. As you can see it on the picture above, NEX’s face doesn’t have sharp long shape but very square like a robot. Inside is also a bit different from Shinkansen and it is futuristic because of its screens at each car, its interior designs and its digital voice of announcement. You can only have this valuable experience if you are using Narita International Airport.

B.T.W., already got a Japan Rail Pass? Yes, as your expected, this trip is covered by the pass. One-way travel with NEX takes about one hour, costs 3,190 yen to Tokyo station and is covered by the Japan Rail Pass, JR Tokyo Wide Area Pass and some other JR passes.

Even if you don’t have a Japan Rail Pass, you can simply buy a ticket at Narita Airport or at Narita Airport Station on the JR line. Just go to the counter, the staffs will assist you.

See? It’s reasonable and might be a special experience for you.
