The spacious space which allows 6 or 7 people sit in is one of the best selling point of “CX-8”. The engine is a 2.2 liter inline and 4 cylinder turbo diesel with a maximum output of 190 horse power. The price is at the higher range from 3,190,000 yen to 4,190,000 yen but about 7,300 units are booked before the release date. Furthermore, 40% of the booking users are occupied by users between 20 to 30 years old, showing that the model is popular among young generation.

Quiet interior and comfortable ride

CX-8 is designed based on the large SUV "CX-9" which sold in US, and have the size reduced to match the Asian road size. This model has inherited CX-9 great feature such as quietness of the room and the high-class ride comfort. Although the engine is diesel, the noise is hardly contained in the room. Besides, the noise from tyre also very small. The ride comfort was very good and the car body was stable and kept in good position even though when riding on uneven road. The test drive car has attached with the high-end audio BOSE as the additional option, however due to the low noise, you could enjoy the wonderful music without raising the volume while driving. Even though the car type is SUV, however the comfort of the car is equivalent to a luxury car.

For the time being, only CX-8 with right hand side steering is introduced. However there is a possibility to be sold in Asia as well

The 2.2 liter turbo diesel engine manage to generating a maximum of 190 horse power which allow the 1,800kg body to accelerate to 100km/hr in just a moment. Although I didn’t measure the fuel efficiency, estimated from the onboard average fuel consumption meter that it can run 15km or more per liter of diesel fuel. According to Mazda’s staff, only right hand steering CX-8 is produced for the time being. Currently the car is only sold in Japan but in future there is a possibility for the release of this model for left-hand traffic to be sold to the Asian country with right hand steering.
