Before taking a stroll around Asakusa, stop by for a blissful breakfast at this Showa-retro themed coffee shop!

Hey, everyone!
Today I’m going to be introducing Cafe de Royal, an atmospheric Showa-retro themed coffee shop in Asakusa.
Asakusa is a charming and vibrant town that’s home to many historical buildings, a range of seasonal events, and lots of beautiful traditional Japanese handicrafts.
Before you begin strolling around this wonderful town, why not enjoy a blissful breakfast at a popular coffee shop that has been going for over 50 years and featured in the media numerous times?
It’s located near the main gate of Sensoji Temple...
This sign saying “coffee” in kanji must be it!

The signboards by the front of the shop show the delicious sandwiches and cakes on offer.

By the entrance is this huge coffee roasting machine—all the coffee here is self-roasted.

The glistening lights of the chandelier reflected in the mirrors on the walls...
Luxurious velvet chairs and sofas...

Stepping inside the shop’s atmospheric, decades-old interior is like taking a trip back in time to the Showa era!

Right away I order the “Morning A” breakfast set, which comes with yoghurt, salad, and a drink.
You can choose from coffee, tea, or milk.

As I sit savoring the wonderful atmosphere, my breakfast arrives!

The thickly-cut toast with ham and egg is deliciously soft and crispy!

The set comes with jelly that you can use as you please—you can spread it on the toast, or add it to the yoghurt, which is served in a shell-shaped dish!
The salad is generously-sized, and the carefully-brewed ice coffee has just the right gentle sourness and smoothness, making it perfect for a morning cup!
The breakfast menu is available until 11:30 am, so this is also a great place to come to for a late morning meal.
Its location near to Sensoji also makes it a great base for sightseeing, so why not stop by and enjoy a blissful breakfast?
