A sales employee spend most of their working time by doing sales out of office. A full schedule working day might be very packed for them which most of the time spent in travelling and often insufficient time to have a proper lunch. However, a lunch is required to gain the stamina and relief themselves is still essential no matter how busy they are.
According to a survey by National Tax Agency, the average annual income of women in Japan is about 2.76 million yen. It is about 4.64 million yen for a woman in her 30s in Tokyo. Therefore most of them will try to have their lunch within 1,000 yen. Today, we are going to introduce the lunch menus of a 30s OL and let’s discover how they plan on their lunch menus.
Monday: A Penne Gratin at the office nearby café
Monday is a busy day as there are plenty of email checking and meeting scheduled. I am required to communicate with customers and response to excessive workloads in Monday morning. Therefore, I will need a relaxing time during the Monday lunch hour.
Hence, I will go to a café nearby my office during the lunch hour, a place which can allows me enjoy my lunch while enjoying the scenery view. A lunch set of Penne Gratin which costs 1,000 yen and comes with mini salad and bun will be the best choice for me. By eating warm comfort food, it will calm down myself as well. Unfortunately the lunch set of 1,000 yen may not come with drinks. Normally I will buy coffee at 150 yen at a convenience store on my way walking back office and to sip my coffee slowly while checking email in office.
Tuesday: A busy day for sales activities. Prefer a quick lunch for Tuesday
As a sales OL I’m always busy visiting client’s office and spent most of time travelling out. Therefore, I usually have a quick lunch nearby client’s office instead of own office since lack of time. So, I often choose one-plate meal and bowl rice as my lunch. Today, I have Shirasu bowl as my lunch. This is a bowl of rice which topped with the shirasu which were just fried this morning and a half-boiled egg. This is so delicious after I stir and eat together with rice. Besides, the set lunch also comes with sashimi, salad and miso soup.
Also, green tea is served free of charge at this Japanese sushi shop. Therefore the lunch set of 1,000 yen is really value for money.
Wednesday: Another lunch which need to be eaten quickly! Another busy day of Wednesday!
So, today I also have my lunch near my client’s office. I tried to getting far away from those office building to avoid meeting my client when I am having my lunch and accidentally found this ramen shop! It is as impromptu as I couldn’t know what kind of restaurant is it until I entered. I found this discovery as one of my enjoyment of the day as well. Ramen with rich taste soup with the portion which just nice for me is only cost 1,000 yen.
Thursday: The office of the client is located at Ginza. Since is near to Tsukiji, definitely the sushi here is nice!
I have plenty of options for my lunch today since there are a lot of café and restaurants in Ginza. Even though is tiring to walk around for sales whole day, I feel is worthwhile since I got the opportunity to enjoy the different gourmet at various places. This time, I visit a client in the Ginza area, which is close to the famous Tsukiji fish market. Of course, I would like to have sushi for my lunch today!
13 pieces sushi and miso soup which only costs 1500 yen! It’s a bit over budget. However, it’s just a small reward for myself since I worked hard for this week.
Friday: Stamina food as a last spurt on Friday!
We used to drink with colleagues and friends on the last working day of the week, Friday without working overtime. As a spurt of the week, I usually eat stamina food as my lunch. Today, I ordered the Bibimbap, a korean food which is filled with pork and plenty of cheese. The Bibimbap lunch set is reasonable at the cost of 800 yen only which served together with a salad, kimchi and soup. With the stamina consumed, let’s finish my last half day of working day with full energy.
Off day: Brunch with friends at Italian restaurant
After having a long deep sleep on Saturday, I wake up and meet my friend for lunch. Usually we will go to a modern café or Italian restaurant. Today, we go to a Pasta house which is famous for the Japanese style pasta. See! The menu I ordered is come with the plenty Natto as topping! Do you feel surprise for this menu?
This menu is made by stirring the pasta with the pre-fried bacon and mushrooms in soy sauce, and at last completed by putting natto ass topping. You might not believe many customers are addicted to this menu just like me, I need to eat at least once per month for this menu. Besides, there are other Japanese style pasta such as pasta with salmon, Ikura and Tarako as topping, it is highly recommended for you to try once if you have chance.
