Show Me Your Smartphone Screenshots! What Kind of Apps do 10s Girls who live in Tokyo Have? Vol.1

Hi, everyone. I bet you often check the Fun! Japan website with your mobile phone, right? What app do you use? I have so many apps that I don’t even remember what half of them are for.

What Kind of Apps do 10s Girls who live in Tokyo Have

Today, I want to show you a screen shot of someone else’s mobile phone. Her name is Haruna, and she’s a typical teenage girl living in Tokyo. I think you’ll like her. A teenaged girl who loves French Cafes.

FJHi, Haruna. Nice to meet you!

H: Hi, nice to meet you, too.

FJ: We heard that you’re a college student in Tokyo. How is it? What are you studying?

H: I am studying International Communications, because I want to work for some international institute or maybe a foreign-based company after I graduate.

FJ: Good! So you study a lot?

HWell, not so much, really. Most of the time I’m going to cafes in the coolest parts of Tokyo, like Daikanyama, Jiyugaoka, and Nakameguro. I like French-style cafes with French interiors, French books, and French menus. I try to do my homework at those cafés but I always end up taking lots of photos, editing them on my phone, and posting them on the Net.

FJ: (laughing) I’m sure you’re not the only one! So, why don’t you tell our readers about your favorite apps?

H: Sure! Here’s my phone. I guess you can tell I like pink a lot. It’s totally kawaii, so I always use something pink for my wallpaper. Right now I’m using pink roses!

FJ: OK. Now, let’s check what kind of apps you’ve got. I see a lot of photo editing apps.

H: Yes! Since I love taking photos of cafes, I’m always looking for good apps to edit or share them with my friends. Of course I love taking photos with my friends, so I also need apps to make us look pretty or weird or funny, depending on our mood.

Photo Editing Apps

FJ: So, which is your favorite app for editing?

H: Definitely “PicsArt”. My friends and I like to play with our photos, you know, add stickers and drawings and funny designs. We post them on SNS or share them with other friends. “PicsArt” has more than 1,000 ways to edit and 100 layout designs, and you can even make your own sticker! It is easy for us to make a totally unique photo collage. It is so much fun!

FJ: “PicsArt” adapts to works in several languages, including Indonesian, Thai, Traditional Chinese, Vietnamese, and English. Fun! Japan members would definitely like it!

H: Really? Then let me introduce another one. It’s called “Camera360 – Selfie Filter Cam, Photo Video Editor”. You can edit videos with it. Moving stickers are my favorite.

FJ: It also has Thai, Traditional Chinese, Vietnamese, and English versions, too.

H: Actually, I’m not good at reading English, but I still enjoy it. So Fun! Japan members who are non-English speakers may enjoy it, too.

FJ: Good to know that! Wait a minute. Aren’t you planning to work in international companies in the future?

H: Yes…I know. I’ve gotta work hard and study English more. I’ll learn by checking the Fun! Japan website every day and practice writing to other members.

FJ: Sounds good! Thanks for talking to us today.

So, did you like that? We are planning to continue this as a series. Let us know whose smart phone you want to see — a female editor of an online fashion magazine? A male photographer for a travel magazine? A female wedding planner? A sushi chef? A Geisha? How about some Fun! Japan editors? Anyone you like, we’ll try to talk to them and see what their phone looks like. We’d like to arrange an interview with someone you’re interested in.
