Lee’s Travelog – SIM Card Vending Machine @ Odaiba DiverCity

Travelling in Japan and need to stay in touch? You can now get a SIM card from a vending machine! I remembered when I first came, it was very difficult to get a temporary SIM in Japan due to security reasons. Each number had to be registered and to an address and bank account number. However, since Japan received the bid for hosting the 2020 Olympics, all these have been changing and it is now easier than ever to get connected!

All the SIMs are ready to use out of the packet, and come with internet speeds up to 150Mbps, more than sufficient for looking up information on the go. Packages come in two types – 7 days and 14 days. The method of purchase is similar to any vending machines.

The 7-day plan costs 3726 yen, while the 14-day plan costs 5346 yen. Note that these prices include tax. No need to worry about staying connected as the company, NTT DOCOMO, is well covered around Japan.

However, please be sure to check that your phone is compatible!

My favorite part of the whole package is how beautifully packaged the SIM cards are! After using it, one may be tempted to keep the card just because of the intricate design.

For the forgetful ones like me, you can also but chargers for your phone at this SIM vending machine. It is located at the ground floor of Diver City in Odaiba.
