Walking in Tokyo and Japan, you will probably notice how much you can find U.S coffee chains like Starbucks and Tully’s or Japanese chains like Doutor or Veloce.
Most of those chains are specialised into very sweet coffee based drinks with are quite expensive.
For strong black coffee lovers it’s sometimes difficult to find some real good cheap coffee, unless you know about Yanaka Coffee.
Let’s see what is it about !
Originally Yanaka Coffee was a coffee beans shop from the lovely downtown area Yanaka in Tokyo.
The beans shop turned into a cafe where you can taste the shop blends and enjoy some fresh roasted coffee.
In Yanaka Coffee, no fancy sweet drinks with tons of whipped cream and syrups, just high quality classic drink like simple drip coffee, espresso, milk coffee and cappuccino.
You can enjoy them hot or cold.
The price is also much cheaper than other chains, around 260 yen for a cup of coffee to drink in the store or to take away.
Other chains are above 300 yen in general.
If you have a sweet tooth, some small cookies are also available.
All the cafe are also selling coffee beans, some tools and coffee pots.
There are some cute cups and tea towels with the shop logo as well.
Strong coffee lovers seemed to like the concept since a dozen of cafe opened in Tokyo.
