hisashiburi(久しぶり)_Fun! Japan Words vol.14

Once you start making Japanese friends, you might hear this phrase a lot.

Hisashiburi~!(久しぶり!)

The phrase simply means “It’s been a while” or “Long time no see!”, which is a pretty common phrase in any language that I know of, but I doubt anyone says this more often than the Japanese do.

For instance, I realized that many of my friends greet me “hisashiburi~!” even though it has only been two weeks since we last met.

I guess Japanese people miss each other more than any other country.

If you are meeting or messaging a Japanese friend that you haven’t met for a while, try using this phrase to show that you really missed and couldn’t wait to see them!
