Japan is a country with four distinctive seasons. It has high humidity because the nation is basically collection of islands surrounded by the sea. And due to its high humidity, in addition to 4 major seasons, Japan also has rainy season, in June

Rain is called Ame () in Japanese.

If we take a look at the kanji, the “one” () line in the upper part represents sky, 4 dots represents water, whereas the “” represents cloud. This kanji literally means water droplets that come down from the cloud layer. A good kanji to symbolize rain as a weather phenomena, isn’t it?
