Hi, everyone! Happy New Year! How did you spend your New Year holidays?
I think the New Year is very important time of the year in your countries. New Year is very important in Japan, just like Christmas in the west. Today’s post is going to focus on learning some phrases for the New Year.
Happy New Year in Japanese isあけましておめでとうございます (Akemashite omedetō gozaimasu). After New Year holidays, Japanese meet each other always say this phrase. However, the phrase cannot be used before the New Year has begun. It is often followed by another expression, 今年もよろしくお願いします (ことしもよろしくおねがいします, kotoshi mo yoroshiku onegai shimasu). It means: “Please be kind to me this year too.”
You can use them for an email too, so try use them for a New Year greeting!
