BBQ Party that save your time
You know, we all had barbequed foods sitting or standing facing a hot burning charcoal pit. Then we would have several rounds before all the foods on skewers are inside our stomach. Am I right? I always like to grill chicken, fish ball and sausage, Satay and seafood. Tori-Tori is a newly-opened fast-food stand in Gurney Plaza, a mall by seaside in Penang. 鳥or Tori means poultry and Tori-Tori gives an idea of pieces of chicken which are linked together.
I like to eat grilled foods because grilling retains most nutrients and flavors in foods, while it also burns away extra calories. We seldom organize BBQ party but only occasionally because it involves a tedious process and the waiting part is especially time-consuming while letting your saliva dripping.
I am so glad to be able to enjoy my meal in less than 5 minutes after ordering. First of all, you have to select whether you want to have it Ala Carte or with rice. Then you will pick the desired items from the menu. They offer chicken, beef, lamb, mushroom as well as seafood. The rice only costs Rm 1.99 while you just need to add your choice of sticks. I think they call it Kushimono? By the way, 串 or Kushi means skewer.
Nice Unagi with rice
I was so surprised that the meal was passed on to me so quick! I thought I did sit to wait till the foods are cooked. The Japanese rice is served with Teriyaki sauce with scattered seaweed on top. The sauce was sweet and salty with a hint of burnt flavor even though no char was found. The mushroom was coated with sauce on the outside while its original mushroom flavor was sealed within. Unagi is always best eaten seasoned. Well, the Unagi was really fresh and coated with grilled taste. Its skin just melted in my mouth. I suggest you guys try the Kushimono with rice because of the perfect combination of tasty meat, sweet seaweed and hot dense Japanese rice. Various set meals are available too.
The Kushimono is not a small portion to me at all while the price is also reasonable. The salmon only costs at RM4.90 while the Yakitori has a price range of RM3 to RM 5. If you like to eat grilled chicken, you can also run around with thigh, skin or breast!
I was there enjoying my meal and watching the man flipping the Kushimono on the griller. It was very interesting! He did not stop me from taking photos too. Reminder for you guys is to bring cash to Tori-Tori because it does not accept other types of payment currently.
