Kakigori cafés in Japan

In Japan, It’s so hot and humid in summer, so today I will introduce you Kakigori, or Japanese shaved ice, to beat the summer heat. This is one of the most unique and creative Kakigori cafés in Japan that everyone should not miss when visiting Tokyo!

Kooriya Peace (氷屋ぴぃす)

Kooriya Peace (氷屋ぴぃす) is located in Kichijoji, where is said to be the best shopping and residential area in Tokyo. Although the café is tiny with only eight chairs, I think their Kakigori is really irresistibly good.

Strawberry Milk (いちごミルク) Pink Kakigori

There are not many staff in the café on weekends, so it is no surprise that you see a long line in front of the café. The menu changes from season to season, and it is always very popular! At the time we visited we ordered many bowls. The first one was Strawberry Milk (いちごミルク) Pink Kakigori with strawberry sauce. It was very good!

Black sesame and pumpkin Kakigori

Next, Black sesame and pumpkin Kakigori. I didn’t know sesame and pumpkin go well but it was incredibly delicious! Creamy and rich pumpkin with sweet black sesame was amazing and looked good! I really recommend it to Japanese dessert (Wagashi) lovers!

Berry and Sweet Potato (ベリーなお芋chan) 

The last one we ordered was Berry and Sweet Potato (ベリーなお芋chan)

It was like a new kind of Kakigori with different textures which you won’t find in any other café. It is a good combination of sweet and sour berry sauce with creamy sweet potato topping.
