I love ramen, and I know so are many people all over the world.
I mean, who doesn’t?
Various flavored soup, long and wavy noodles and many attractive toppings like eggs, green onions, seaweeds and etc.
I bet you are hungry for a bowl of hot and steamy ramen by now.
But have you ever heard or tasted of cold ramen?
Are you wondering if there even was such a thing?
Well, the answer is Yes, and it is called “Hiyashi Chuka.”(chilled chinese)
What a strange thing to call this Japanese traditional dish Chinese.
It is cold noodle served with lots of colourful toppings.
Many restaurants in Japan usually serve this “Hiyashi Chuka” only during the summer.
Pre-packaged “Hiyashi Chuka” can be found easily at grocery stores during summer as well, and they come with dressing of soy sauce flavored.
Very easy and quick meal to make.
In fact, I will show you how to make “Hiyashi Chuka.”
First, I cut all the toppings into thin slices and about same width.
I used cucumbers, eggs, boiled chickens, tomatoes and shrimps.
Half of the process is pretty much done already.
The way to prepare eggs into thin strips is to break the egg first, and then cook on frying pan, like creps.
Then take it out from the pan, and cut into thin strips.
We use this strips of eggs in many different dishes, like in sushi too.
Very useful and yet simple.
Now, what I need to do left is to boil noodles for a minute or so and drain water.
Place toppings on top of noodles.
Drizzle dressing on top of it and done.
Very easy, isn’t it?
Just to care to put as many color as you can, because it make it look pretty and appetizing.
