Hyogo prefecture is located in the middle eastern part of Japan. If you look at the map, it is a fairly wide prefecture with the sea connecting its west and its east. Famous sightseeing areas of Hyogo include Kobe, Himeji Castle, and Awaji Island. Hyogo prefecture has both beautiful sea and mountain, so you can find a lot of delicious food there.

Today, I would like to introduce to you the Hyogo Antenna Shop, where you can get food and goods directly delivered from Hyogo prefecture. You can taste the authentic and delicious food from Hyogo during your sojourn at Tokyo. The shop is located at Yurakucho, a 5 minute walk from JR Yurakucho Station.





Entering the shop, you can see a blackboard on which a ranking of the popularity in descending order is written. The first place is frozen akishiyaki, a food originated from Akishi city in Hyogo prefecture. It looks like the grilled octopus takoyaki, but akishiyaki is softer and with more egg flavour. Akishiyaki is eaten differently from grilled octopus, too, as the former should be tasted after being dipped into a bowl of soup. Frozen akishiyaki allows you to taste authentic Hyogo dishes in your home country! The food has won a lot of awards so far.



The second place is the Kobe Tsukuri Beer made by Kirin. It is special because usually it is only sold within Hyogo. Kobe Tsukuri beer is manufactured at a Kobe factory, with all its ingredients from only Hyogo. So if you are a beer addict, you should definitely give a go!





There are also a lot of sweets and snacks which you can only find in Hyogo. The boxes displayed in the above pictures with orange packages are quite well-known, too. It was awarded the champion in National Confections Competition. Oranges grown at Awaji Island were first reaped, and processed by soaking them in sugar, before mixing the end-up products with Belgium-made chocolate. An unique sweet, it tastes both sour and sweet, which is indeed a perfect mix-and-match. The fresh taste of oranges retain in the chocolate itself.



Kobe may also remind you about Kobe beef, which is the most delicious meat in Japan or even in the world. In the shop, you will be able to try buns and dumplings with the fillings of Kobe beef!

Hyogo Antenna Shop is not that big, but you can find a lot of interesting things that you might want to try.
