Ehime is rich in hot spring spots and has been a womb of the onsen culture for around 3000 years. Kagawa possesses Ritsurin Garden which is designated as one of the most important national cultural assets. Besides that, there are tons of treasure spots you must check out! Kagawa & Ehime Setouchi Shunsaikan
Kagawa & Ehime Setouchi Shunsaikan is located in a corner just a minute walk from Shinbashi Station. First floor is local gift shop and event section. Second floor has a cozy local restaurant and travel information space. It is also a rare case of an antenna shop representing two prefectures at the same location. But on a tourist point of view,
it is great because you can hit two birds with one stone!

At first, let me introduce local products that you should not miss.
Ehime Mikan
The signature local production in Ehime is Mikan (Japanese mandarin orange). ‘Ehime Mikan’ is the most well known branded Mikan throughout Japan! If you are looking for gifts or souvenirs, the types of Mikan juice will not disappoint you as there are over 30 types of Mikan juice available at the Mikan corner.
Kagawa Sanuki Udon
If you give a Japanese person a single keyword of udon and ask them to reply with a region relates it, 90% of the answer you would get are Kagawa. Udon is so iconic for Kagawa that some people calls it udon- ken- the prefecture of udon. The most well-known local production in Kagawa is Sanuki Udon. If you want actual data, there are more than 600 Udon restaurants in Kagawa itself!! The picture below shows around 100 kinds of different Udon soup seasoning and that is just a tip of an iceberg!

Local Restaurant ‘Kaorihime’ (郷土・せとうち料理かおりひめ)
Once you had a meal at this restaurant, your knowledge and expectation of Japanese cuisine will be changed forever. All the ingredients are shipped from Ehime and Kagawa. During the season I visited this restaurant, they serve an exquisite kind of rice named Oidemai from Kagawa that received high evaluation in Japan! I bet you will notice that the taste is different from your other meal in Tokyo!
