An aquarium in city and right close to Tokyo Skytree

My two sons love watching animals and fish. So this summer as I was searching for a place to take my kids to I was surprised with a name of an aquarium inside Tokyo Skytree Sola Machi and the excited scream of my son shouting, "I wanna go!!" made this trip the Sumida Aquarium the start of our family regular outings to the aquarium.

Sumida Aquarium is located on the 5th and 6th floor of Tokyo Sola Machi and you can do there by taking the escalator from the 4th floor. You can easily located the escalator as it will be near the famous ice-cream shop, "Cold Stone". I went there that day with two of my sons and when we were at the ticket booth, I noticed the sign about the yearly ticket of this aquarium which were only double the price of the entrance ticket . I quickly decided to buy the yearly ticket as I would probably be taking my kids here again and it would really worth the 4,100yen price.

After we parked the baby car in front of the entrance, we went in to make our yearly pass and went inside to be faced with a staircase which will lead us to the upper level. My sons climbed up excited as they didn't know what await them. After we climbed the stairs we would come to see the big tank with small river fish. Inside the tank will be big rocks and aquatic plants that were to mimic the scene under the river where these fish really live in.

After this will be Jelly Fish zone which will have special collaboration with famous artist or special seasonal decorations. When we were there the second time, the background behind the Jelly fish was the colorful flowers taken by Miss Mika Ninakawa, director and photographer (Thai people might know her as the director of AKB48's famous song, "Heavy Rotation"). I got to take beautiful of the jelly fish swimming in front of the bright colorful flower which really a one of a kind photo moment.

Beyond the jelly fish zone are the small fish tanks which will have different kinds of fish in each tank so that people could watch the fish in action closely. The fish in this zone will be rare fish or small fish like clown fish or small globefish. There is also a big fish tank where many kinds of fish will swim together even the shark and the sting rays. You can either choose to watch from the second floor or go down to the first floor to have a closer look at the fish in this tank. After this zone will be the coral reef zone where there will be many kinds of little colorful fish swimming in the tank full of coral reefs waiting for you to explore.

Other than the fish, the Penguin zone in the middle of the aquarium is also famous for the penguins' lunch time where you will be able to experience how the penguins swim viciously fighting for food from the staff. And if you don't be careful you might get wet from the water that spill out from the furious swim of the penguins inside.
Sumida Aquarium might not be as big when compare to the world class aquarium like S.E.A. in Singapore but if you want to take your little ones to come and run around exploring fish under a relaxing atmosphere and go enjoy a little shopping or eating delicious treats after your trip, this aquarium will be one of the good choice for your upcoming family trip or and day out with your loved ones.
