If you have had a chance to come to Tokyo, many of you may want to go on the skyscraper to see the view or capture the photo with the surroundings of Tokyo. But many of those skyscrapers will collect the entrance fee for going up the building. Today I would like to recommend one of the skyscrapers for you, both easy to access and free of charge.
Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building is a working place for the government as its name stated, but it is also opened for the public to go up the building at a certain time to see the Tokyo view. The building is separated into two parts which are North Building which is opened during 9.30 am. to 11.00 p.m. (closed on the second and fourth Monday of the month) and South Building which is opened during 9.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. (closed on the first and third Monday of the month).
The special part of this building is that we are able to see the view for 360 degree, which means everywhere. So we don’t have to pay expensively for going up the building but we are able to watch the view like those skyscrapers. My suggestion for coming here is to check for the weather and come when the sky is clear because you will be able to see Fuji Mountain, could be said that you can see the view as far to other province. Especially during the sunset period, you will see the red sky and the shadow of Fuji Mountain clearly.
Moreover, when you go up the building, there will be stores located there, both souvenir shops and coffee shop. For souvenir shop, there will be unique Japanese-style products that has pattern that convey about Japan or even the products with the characters from Japanese cartoon pattern on. Therefore, if you are looking for a souvenir shop but do not have enough time, if you have had a chance to come to this building, you will be able to buy the souvenirs back for your parents, friends, or even kids.
For those who would like to come to see the view at this building, very easy, you just take a train to Shinjuku Station and walk to West Exit, then follow the sign Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building until you find this building, it is about 10-minute walk. Or you can take Oedo subway line to Tochpomae station, which is closer than walking from Shinjuku Station. If you come during winter season, I would recommend you to transport via subway as it may help to reduce the coldness.
Don’t forget to check for the time that this building is opened or the time that the sun will set, so You will not miss the beautiful view like what I had seen. I wish you all have a great time seeing the view.
