A major exhibit focused on the Hashira from the anime "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" has officially opened on November 2, 2024. Titled “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Hashira Exhibit – Onward to the Infinity Castle”, this event offers not only immersive exhibits but also a shop with around 200 unique goods and an adjoining café, “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Hashira Exhibit – Onward to the Infinity Castle Café” produced by ufotable Café.
What is the “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Hashira Exhibit – Onward to the Infinity Castle”?
The exhibit is held on the 6th floor of the newly opened TODA BUILDING in Tokyo, only a 7-minute walk from Tokyo Station. This location, CREATIVE MUSEUM TOKYO (CMT), opened on November 2, 2024, and is a large-scale museum where visitors can experience the art, creators, and creative processes behind various works. CMT will host four exhibitions a year featuring anime, manga, music, and contemporary art. Its museum shop and café offer exclusive items and menus for each exhibit.
For its inaugural exhibition, CMT presents the “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Hashira Exhibit – Onward to the Infinity Castle”, the first large-scale exhibit to focus on the Hashira. The exhibit is organized into seven zones, each dedicated to exploring different aspects of the nine Hashira.
The Seven Exhibit Zones
Zone 1: The Gathering of the Hashira
In this powerful visual display, you’ll experience all nine Hashira gathered together: Giyu Tomioka (Water Hashira), Kyojuro Rengoku (Flame Hashira), Tengen Uzui (Sound Hashira), Muichiro Tokito (Mist Hashira), Shinobu Kocho (Insect Hashira), Mitsuri Kanroji (Love Hashira), Obanai Iguro (Serpent Hashira), Sanemi Shinazugawa (Wind Hashira), and Gyomei Himejima (Stone Hashira).
Zone 2: The Individuality of the Hashira
Through large graphics, videos, and narrative descriptions, the Hashira’s unique traits are showcased in a multi-dimensional, immersive experience. Visitors also receive a special “Hashira Badge” upon entry. By scanning the badge’s QR code, you can listen to original audio content where one Hashira introduces another.
Zone 3: The Physicality of the Hashira
Life-sized graphics of the Hashira are on display alongside replicas of each Hashira’s distinctive Nichirin sword hilt, allowing visitors to appreciate the physicality and detail of each character.
Zone 4: The Words of the Hashira
The Hashira have words that inspire and entertain, and you can hear some of their famous quotes through an audio experience, triggered by your Hashira Badge.
Zone 5: The Expressions of the Hashira
Surrounded by over 1,000 original drawings, this zone showcases the wide range of expressions the Hashira display. Each drawing brings out the emotions they experience, allowing you to feel the Hashira’s inner worlds.
Zone 6: The Dynamism of the Hashira
This action-packed area features the Hashira in motion through sequential action drawings, giving you the sense of their presence filling the room in a truly dynamic display.
Zone 7: And Then, to the Infinity Castle
The final scene of the “Hashira Training Arc,” where the characters transition from the Ubuyashiki Estate to the Infinity Castle, is recreated with projections, surround sound, haptic (floor vibration) effects, and wind, creating a fully immersive experience.
The final exhibit draws you into the overwhelming space of the Infinity Castle.
Demon Slayer Exhibit with Exclusive Goods and Café Experience
Upon exiting the main exhibit hall, visitors are welcomed into the museum shop, where approximately 200 items are available. Among these exclusive goods are key visuals created by ufotable specifically for this exhibit and the “Hashira Hyakkei” series, which showcases each of the Hashira in vivid detail.
Adjacent to CREATIVE MUSEUM TOKYO, the CREATIVE MUSEUM TOKYO CAFE offers a collaborative café experience.
