Known as the gateway to the Nagoya area and the Chubu region, "Chubu International Airport Centrair" has introduced new decorations in its international departure concourse in Terminal 2 starting in June 2024. These decorations showcase the beauty of Japan's four seasons.

Aimed primarily at international visitors using the airport, this initiative intends to allow travelers to experience the charm of Japan even while walking through the airport.

The theme of Japan's four distinct seasons is depicted in a ukiyo-e style, prominently highlighting Japanese culture. The playful design includes shopping bags from Centrair's duty-free stores and the "Maneki-neko", a famous good luck charm from Tokoname City in Aichi Prefecture where the airport is located. When using Terminal 2, be sure to take a moment to appreciate this unique display!

Designer's Comments

These decorations were designed by the employees of Chubu International Airport Passenger Services Co., Ltd., a group company of Chubu Centrair International Airport Co., Ltd.

"We installed four ukiyo-e-style illustrations to make the airport walkways more enjoyable. Representing Japan’s four seasons, each piece incorporates modern elements such as duty-free shopping bags and selfie sticks, adding a playful touch. For the artwork, we aimed to create the feeling of a time slip to Edo-period Japan, so we drew the figures as close to life-size as possible."
