Beaches You Could Visit While In Tokyo

When people think of the city of Tokyo they don’t often think of beaches as being part of the experience. It can come as a surprise however to find out that there are indeed a number of beach options near to Tokyo, some of which can be visited within a few hours and some of which require a full day trip.
If you do want to visit some of the beaches that are further afield then a good tip is to take the Shinkansen rather than one of the slow trains to cut down on the travel time. This means that if you leave in the morning you can still make it home by the evening having spent the day relaxing on the sand.
Here are some beaches you could visit while in Tokyo…

1) Odaiba Beach

Odaiba Beach is by far the closest beach to the center of Tokyo although note that this is also a manmade beach. The sand here comes from the Izu islands and although you can’t swim here you can still enjoy beach sports like volleyball as well as marveling at the Tokyo skyline. There are some other attractions here to keep visitors entertained such as a replica of the Statue of Liberty and is a good choice if you don’t really have time to go further afield.
