Uji City is located in the southern part of Kyoto, the ancient capital of Japan. The city cultivates high quality tea, so has come to be known for its specialty of Uji tea. It is very easy to get to Uji. When coming from downtown Kyoto, take the Keihan Line from Sanjo or Gion-shijo stations, transfer to the Uji Line at Chushojima Station, and get off at Uji station. The green tea soft-serve ice cream is rich with an elegant flavor, and not too sweet. Having the ice cream together with sweet red bean paste and rice-flour dumplings is amazing. In addition to green tea soft-serve ice cream, the shop also offers roasted green tea soft-serve ice cream, which you should definitely try. The shop also sells soft-serve ice cream for eating as you walk around, so there is no need to wait in a long line for a seat.
To reach Nakamura Tokichi, get off the train at Uji station and enter the shopping street in front of Byodoin. The shop will be immediately on your left. When you see the curtains with the plus sign inside a circle, you've found it. There is also terrace seating, from which you can see the views of Uji River.
