PINK colored sea

In early May, I visited the Hitsujiyama Park in Chichibu City, Saitama Prefecture to see a field of pink and white moss phlox flowers (in Japanese, we call them “lawn cherry blossoms”). It was beautiful, as if the hill had been carpeted with flowers. I went there by car, but it is also possible to go by train from Ikebukuro. It takes about an hour.

The field of moss phlox flowers was in full bloom so there were lots of visitors, from small children to elderly people.
It was a very spacious location and I felt as if I had gone hiking. The air smelled of nature and the scenery was very beautiful. I sat down and ate a bento lunch box that I had made at home.

While I was there, I rode on a horse and fed some sheep.
I rode on a horse for the first time with my daughter. Apart from this, there were places selling food and souvenir shops. There was lots of food there, from grilled fish and grilled corn, to various types of ice cream, and pickled cucumbers.

After we were satisfied with seeing the field of moss phlox flowers, we went to a strawberry farm. There are lots of fruit farms in Chichibu City where you can pick fruit and eat what you pick. We went strawberry picking for 30 minutes, where we could pick and eat as much as we liked for 1500 yen. Thinking about it, the strawberries there were larger and sweeter than the ones in Indonesia.
