Otaguro Park: A less-known but beautiful autumn leaf spot in Tokyo
Autumn leaves coloring in Tokyo, and there are many famous Autumn Leaf Spots such as Rikugien, Koishikawa Korakuen, Showa Memorial Park, and Mount Takao. But today, I want to introduce a less-known but beautiful autumn leaf spot in Tokyo.
Otaguro Park is a local park located at Ogikubo, Tokyo, which anyone can enter for free. Ogikubo is a suburban area of Tokyo in Suginami ward, approximately 8 km west of Shinjuku. You can take the JR Chuo Line from Shinjuku Station to Ogikubo Station, it takes about 20min. The Otaguro Park is located at almost 10 min by walk from South Exit.
Otaguro Park was the residence of Mr. Motoo Otaguro, the music critic. And it became a local park and opened on October 1, 1984, maintained by Suginami Ward. The scenery of the Japanese style garden in the park is so beautiful, and makes visitors feel quiet and peaceful. Recently become more famous than before for its colorful autumn leaves.
The Autumn Leaves Light-up is from November 25 to December 4. (2016)
