It aims to provide new, unique, and sustainable solutions for living in the city center, supporting the needs of people living within limited space. A Store Created to Fit 4 "Living Needs"
IKEA Harajuku has been designed to fit and reflect the needs of people living within the city. It displays 4 different needs easily being "Sleeping", "Tidying", "Relaxing", and "Cooking", with all of the products ensuring to reflect these needs in their usability and design. The showrooms which you can see here have been created with the limited living space found within most city-based apartments in mind, allowing customers to perfectly envision and decide what's best for them. There are various different rooms you can view such as ones aimed at people living alone, those aimed at people looking to budget, and many more typical rooms which you would find within a city-based apartment.
A Japan & Global First - The Swedish Convenience Store
To help support customers in their busy everyday lives, the 1st floor of the shopping center is a "Swedish Convenience Store". Here you can purchase things such as an ISTAD resealable freezer bag which has been created using materials from eco bags and plants, plant-based ramen, and many more sustainable products. At the coffee stand which you can find inside of the convenience store, you can purchase things such as coffee, cinnamon rolls, plant-based ice cream, and ice cream sundaes all of which can be bought to-go.

On the 2nd Floor, you'll find the "Swedish Cafe" in which you can try a brand new item called "TUNNBRÖD" which is a variation of the traditional and popular Swedish food flatbread which has various ingredients placed onto it. This cafe has been created as a combination of crepes and the eat-while-walking culture of Harajuku. You should definitely try out the TUNNBRÖD which can only be purchased at IKEA Harajuku!
The EFTERTRÄDA Collection - An All-new IKEA Apparel and Goods Brand
The EFTERTRÄDA Collection is the first of its kind being an apparel line of clothing and goods using the official IKEA logo. It has a simple and fashionable design which allows you to show off your individuality, with inspiration acquired from the younger generation of Tokyo, IKEA designed and manufactured this apparel line of clothing and goods.
These products have been designed similarly to other IKEA products. They're made from 100% sustainable cotton, allowing them to have a soft touch, products such as T-shirts, hoodies, towels, as well as a foldable umbrella that has been made using recyclable polyester, and even a cup which can be used at any IKEA store nationwide at the IKEA water stations, there are also packs of 10 bags that can be used in place of one-time-use plastic bags.
There are also some imported low-alcohol (0.3%) craft beers which you can try called Omnipollo, with 4 different types available. You can only buy these at IKEA in Japan!
IKEA Shibuya - Japan's First 7-story Store is Planned for November 30th, 2020!
Following IKEA Harajuku's opening, the 2nd city-center-based IKEA store, IKEA Shibuya, is planned to open on November the 30th 2020. (The 7th-floor restaurant is planned for spring 20201). Also, there is a "City Shop" planned to be placed within IKEA Shibuya, where you will be able to purchase things such as toys and play equipment for the first time ever, so we hope you'll look forward to visiting as a family once it opens!
