“Edo Wonderland Nikko Edomura” is a theme park that recreates the Edo era townscape, located in Nikko City, Tochigi Prefecture. The scenery of the Edo period spreads when entering the park. “Edo Wonderland Nikko Edomura” was opened in Nikko City in Tochigi Prefecture in 1986 as a theme park that reproduces the townscape of the Edo period. The park reproduces the townscape of the Edo period in a realistic way. People walk around in the town dressed in clothes of the Edo period. There are plenty of attractions to enjoy besides the town. Ninjas and Oiran appear in shows held occasionally. You can enjoy the performances such as the powerful ninjas in action and traditional arts of Japan.

The highlight of Edo Wonderland is the townscape of the Edo period, such as the post town and samurai residences as well as the seasonal plants. Through the interactions with the townspeople and experience-based events, you can experience what Edo period feels like. You can also dress as a samurai or a town girl while enjoying the park, and take photos which seems like you are living in Edo Period. Experience-based attractions include the ninja experience (5-12 years old), and the swordsmanship and yabusame experience (13 years old and above).
Guide to Edo Wonderland Nikko Edomura
Admission hours are from 9:00 to 17:00, and business days are from 3/20 to 11/30 during the summer season. It is open from 9:30 to 16:00 from December 1 to March 19 in the winter season. Admission is allowed one hour before each closing time.It is closed every Wednesday (although it is open during days such as holidays and long breaks) and December 8 to December 21. Admission fee for Edo Wonderland is 4700 yen (junior high school students or higher) for single-day admission tickets and 2400 yen for elementary school students. General admission tickets in the afternoon after 14:00 is 4100 yen, and for elementary school students is 2100 yen. Each admission is free for preschoolers.
Accessibility to Edo Wonderland Nikko Edomura
From Tokyo Station, take the JR Yamanote Line and get off at Kanda Station. Change to the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line and get off at Asakusa Station. Walk to Tobu Asakusa Station and get on the Tobu Kinugawa Line. Get off at Kinugawa Onsen Station, and it is about 20 minutes by bus, or about 10 minutes by taxi.
