Hakone Gora Park
Hakone Gora Park is located in Hakone area which is full of nature. It was opened in 1914 in Gora of Kanagawa Prefecture as the first French-styled garden in Japan. Gora Park is a garden that makes use of slopes. A variety of flowers are planted in the open garden surrounded by mountains. You can enjoy the seasonal scenery here. In the greenhouse, plants such as herbs are displayed and tropical plants can be viewed. There is also a valuable tea room registered as a Tangible Cultural Property of Japan. In Hakone Gora Park, you can enjoy seasonal flowers such as cherry blossoms, azaleas and hydrangeas. Among the plants in the garden, roses are planted on a particularly large scale. About 140 types of 1,000 roses vividly colour the garden. This place having spring fresh green and autumn leaves together is recommended. The peak during spring is from late May to late June and the peak during autumn is from mid-October to early November. You can see 70 kinds of tropical herbs in the greenhouse of the garden. In addition, there are abundant facilities to experience. In the tea room of the garden, you can taste Matcha tea for a fee. It is popular because people can feel free to experience Japanese culture. Opening hours are 9:00~17:00 (Last admission at 16:30). Admission fee is 550 yen for adults. Children are free of charge. There are restaurants, cafés and souvenir shops in the park where you can enjoy them leisurely.
Access to Gora Park
Access to Hakone Gora Park from Haneda Airport: Take Keikyu Line to reach Shinagawa Station and change to Tokaido Main Line at JR Shinagawa Station to arrive at Odawara Station. Then, take the Hakone Tozan Railway at Odawara Station and get off at Hakone-Yumoto Station. Change to the Hakone Tozan Railway bound for Gora there and get off at Gora Station. Finally, walk for about 5 minutes.
