We all know of the beauty of the sakura – people all around the world flock to admire the beauty of this delicate bloom during spring. However, have you heard of rape blossoms? Rape blossoms are the yellow flowers of the mustard or cabbage family. Small in size, they are not only cute but also a sight to behold!

Every year from early February to early March in Kawazu, a small township in Minami Izu, you will be able to enjoy not only the beauty of the sakura, but also the rape blossoms! This festival is called the Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival (河津桜祭り). Alongside each other, the color contrast between the sakura pink and rape blossom yellow is a sight to behold.
