This week’s Fun Japan Word is a word you’ll probably know if you like Japanese pop culture: “Kawaii” (かわいい)
“Kawaii” (かわいい) means “cute” and is massively used by Japanese girls and women in conversation.
You’ll hear “Kawaii” (かわいい) everywhere in Japan if you go to any shop related to fashion, but also character goods shops or theme park like Disneyland for example.
“Hello Kitty” is also one of the famous ambassador of Japanese kawaii culture all over the world.
If you want to react like a truly Japanese girl, just say “Kawaii” (かわいい) eveytime you’ll see something cute, but also to compliment children or female friends for example.
“Kawaii” (かわいい) also become a culture phenomenon, with Harajuku fashion and life style with is now exported in foreign countries in events like “Tokyo Crazy Kawaii” in Paris or in Taiwan for example.
It could be nice to have one of those events in Thailand has well.
