There are so many greetings in Japan!

Many words for many occasions… how many ways do you say “hello”…?

For the Japanese, when on the phone, the greeting to use is: moshi moshi.

When your phone rings, simply pick it up and answer with “moshi moshi?” (hello?)

If you are the one dialing, start your conversation by saying hello! “moshi moshi!”
