The spicy snack Karamucho is extremely popular in Japan!
There are many unique flavors in addition to the hot chili flavor that is also available in Thailand, including the not chili flavor, spicy chili favor, smoky chicken flavor, wasabi flavor, and the wasabi mayonnaise flavor that combines wasabi with mayonnaise!!
Did you know that Karamucho snacks have been around for 30 years?
There have been many unusual flavors that have been available over this period of time, including limited time products, limited area products, and collaborative products with other spicy foods in Japan.
An example of one of these products is this spicy cheese flavor product full of a cheese taste that was sold two years ago.
Another example is this unique yuzu pepper flavor product that combines yuzu (a type of citrus fruit) with pepper.
This product features a very unique taste. The chili tomato hot pot flavor that combines spiciness of tomato hot pot which has been popular in Japan for the past several years.
Another unique product is the mentaiko flavor product that uses Hakata mentaiko (salted cod roe spiced with red pepper) that is a famous product from the area of Hakata (located in Kyushu) in Japan.
There is also a Karamucho snack product called Suppamucho that features a sour taste and is popular too.
The packaging of some products has become very ornate recently.
There are even illustrated products that appear to be wrapped in Japan’s traditional gift wrapping cloth called furoshiki!!
While this product looks like it is wrapped in a real pink furoshiki, this is actually just an illustration printed on the package!!
