Ramen is one of Japan’s soul foods, and for this reason no matter where you go in Japan you will always find specialty ramen shops for that region.

In addition to specialty shops, you are also sure to find ramen on the menu of restaurants at airports, department stores, and small towns as this is a food that is widely loved by people in Japan.

There are towns throughout Japan where ramen is said to be especially delicious and ramen is one of the most important elements of these towns, for example, places such as Hakata in Kyushu and Kitakata in Fukushima.

One of these places is Asahikawa City located in the center of Hokkaido, which is as popular for ramen as is Sapporo.

Asahikawa ramen is characterized by curly and slightly thick noodles and a rich soy sauce-flavored soup based on pork bones but with the addition of fish and shellfish stock.

There are many famous ramen shops in Asahikawa City and it would be ideal to be able to walk around and try them out, but the fact is that without a car it could be difficult to visit all of these shops in this wide area.

Buses and public transportation are also not really convenient for sightseeing.

One possible solution is Asahikawa Ramen Village.

It brings eight ramen shops including Aoba, Ittetsu-an Matsuda, Tenkin, and Santoka together at one location, and they provide the same delicious taste as their respective main shops.

While the shops are not that large, the village has a fun atmosphere that feels like a traditional food stall.

All of the shops offer a different taste, with some shops using chicken instead pork for the soup base, and some shops that distinguish themselves by adding things like vegetables, so you can select a shop depending on your own individual tastes.

The village also features Santoka, which has shops in Asia.

You will also be happy to hear that each shop offers a half-size mini ramen with prices starting at 400 yen.

This lets you try several types of ramen during one visit!

Why not enjoy sampling different types of popular piping-hot ramen from the extremely cold Asahikawa City, where it can fall down to minus 30 degrees Celsius in the winter?
