But did you know about the dango made with soba flour?
The same as soba noodles?
Let’s try some!
The Jindaiji temple area near Tokyo was famous for cultivating “soba” or buckwheat during the Edo period.
That’s why you’ll find dozens of soba noodles restaurants around the temple area.
But did you know that you can also make “dango” with soba flour?
You can try those special dango in many place around the Jindaiji temple.
Soba dango are a little bit grey since soba flour is added to sticky rice flour.
Once boiled or steamed, you can choose a topping you like among sweet soy sauce, black sesame cream, red bean jam or nori seaweed for example.
We choose the most classic one, “mitarashi” made with sugar and soy sauce.
Dango soba taste a little bit different like a kind of “cereal taste”.
Also you can enjoy the benefits of soba which contains lutein!
Very good for the health!
