It’s a very simple and classic Japanese sweet called Ohagi.

Do you want to know more about it?

Ohagi is a very common and basic Japanese sweet that could be bought in store or made at home.

Ohagi is made of a ball of sticky rice coated with red bean paste.
The rice used is the same that the one used to make mochi and is soaked few hours to get very sticky.

Then the rice ball is coated with sweet red bean paste.

This Japanese sweet is delicious with a cup of green tea, and  doesn’t taste too sweet.

There’s many variation like ohagi coated with kinako (grilled soy beans flours, matcha powder, or sesame for example.
Some recipes also put the red bean paste inside the rice ball instead of outside.

There’s many recipes explaining to make easy version of ohagi at home using rice leftovers for example.
