Book and Bed Tokyo is a conceptual hostel in Ikebukuro and they opened as “a bookstore you can stay”. This place provides basic accommodation facilities that other regular hostels have such as shared shower and bathroom and individual cube with futon where you stay and read book inside.

Book and Bed Tokyo is located on the 7th floor of a commercial building in Ikebukuro. Sure you cannot imagine that there is this hidden spot available in the same building as a beer bar and yakiniku restaurant, though once you reach to the 7th floor, you will find a reception desk of the hostel. After checked in, you will push the key buttons of the entrance and open the door, Once you enter the floor, you will find the small but comfortable space with one huge book shelf with assembled individual cubes with a bed mattress.

The individual cubes are assembled as a part of the book shelf. Thus, you are buried into a hole of books. There are about 1700 books available here and all books are waiting to be picked. From art to finance specialized books, there have wide range of collections. They also have some books from foreign countries written in the local languages. Thus you can still enjoy the books if you cannot read Japanese.With the extended selections they have, you can read those books you don’t usually read and learn a new thing or you can pick you old favorite and feel nostalgic.

On the back, there is a large couch by window, there you can lay down and read your selection of books or you can eat and drink and enjoy the conversation with other guests. Across the couch area, there is a simple kitchen area with toaster and electric kettle so bring your own food and drink from outside and have a precious night on your own.
